From The Ground Up
Founded in 2007, JMD Engineering has grown from a small mechanical/structural drafting business, to a multi-disciplined, multi-faceted company with 25 highly qualified and experienced staff.
We are a flexible & dynamic group of professionals prepared to mobilise as required to provide the most efficient and practical solutions to our clients. We provide a highly customised and personal service, promoting client collaboration throughout all stages of project delivery.

Cameron Jacotine
Managing Director
Cameron (Cam) is the Managing Director at JMD Engineering, operating across both Bunbury and Perth offices, and has over 15 years of experience in the mining and resources sector, focusing on detailed engineering design and project delivery solutions. He oversees the JMD operational functions in addition to all seconded staff located at remote client sites and operations.

Born in Melbourne, Cam moved to Western Australia with his wife in 2008 to pursue work opportunities in the south-west of the state, joining JMD in 2010. Widely acknowledged for his work ethos, attention to detail, exacting standards and customer-orientated approach, Cam embodies JMD’s values of hard work, ownership and integrity. Cam particularly enjoys engineering design and construction projects that demand a high level of teamwork, expertise, and solutions which stretch the JMD team to learn and grow.
Cam has significant experience delivering and managing highly technical projects from feasibility to handover, always ensuring customer expectations are met and deliverables are managed. Cam has a deep understanding and skill set in multi-disciplined engineering design and drafting, allowing him to have an intimate understanding of any project JMD deliver.
With an Advanced Diploma of Engineering, Cam’s approach is highly practical, whilst meeting the demanding administrative requirements of complex design and engineering projects. Cam has a particular passion for projects involving process plants and associated infrastructure, listing works at Talison, Iluka and Newmont amongst his favourite and most challenging pieces of work.
Harbouring a particular passion for elevating his team and assisting them to meet both their personal and professional goals, Cam focusses on exposing the JMD team to a diverse range of projects and customers as he maintains that challenging and interesting projects offer the most enjoyment and scope for learning. Whilst highly mission and customer-focused, Cam enjoys the camaraderie and sense of achievement that working at JMD provides him on a daily basis.
Cam enjoys fishing, boating and camping when away from the challenge and reward of running JMD Engineering’s Operations function.
Tobin Powell
Engineering Manager
Born in Brisbane and growing up in north-west New South Wales (NSW), Tobin joined JMD Engineering in July 2013 and sits on the Executive Management Team as Engineering Manager. Attaining his qualifications through the University of Queensland, Tobin has a particular passion for design and construct projects including brownfield and greenfield projects across the mining and minerals processing sectors.

This passion has seen Tobin lead his team through feasibility, construction, commissioning and handover phases on many high-profile projects across the state. Prior to joining JMD, Tobin gained considerable experience working across the country with Worley Parsons, Pacer Engineers, SWG, Programmed Construction amongst others, resulting in 20+ years of diverse experience.
Early in his career, Tobin spent significant time in regional and remote Western Australia (WA), as well as the Northern Territory (NT) in the gold and mineral commodities sector, fine-tuning his ability to deliver technically challenging projects to client expectations. Tobin’s attention to detail and problem-solving skills are second to none, and as a result, the Engineering team within JMD mirror these attributes as they deliver on the various projects JMD are engaged to complete.
As Engineering Manager, Tobin is a principle driver of JMD’s core values – hard work, ownership & integrity – in addition to being a significant supporter to the success of the inclusive, professional JMD Engineering family.
Widely respected for his intellect, ability to think laterally, and deliver on commitments, Tobin retains a key focus on never letting a JMD client down. Honesty and integrity are guiding principles; and serving the JMD team, his family, and the broader community, hold deep significance.
Tobin reflects fondly on the experiences and opportunities a career in engineering has provided; including as a graduate new to the mining industry working in the remote Kimberley region; through to the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and interesting projects across the state.
When he is not running the engineering functions across JMD, Tobin enjoys mountain biking, camping, playing and writing music, and spending quality time with his wife and 4 children.
